(WMC-TV) - The hungry in Downtown Memphis were treated to some of the Mid-South's best barbecue this Christmas Day. Between 9:00 a.m. and noon Sunday, Westy's Restaurant on North Main and Jackson served meals for the homeless and hungry. Up to 800 people are believed to have eaten the free meal prepared by Westy's, members of the Memphis Bar-B-Q Network and Lindenwood Christian Church. "I eat well all the time, of course being in the restaurant business," said owner of Westy's Jake Shorr.  "Not everybody gets that chance, so we're sharing.  All of us should find a way to give back to the community some way." Volunteers started preparing the meals Saturday.  They woke up bright and early Sunday to cook the meals. Shorr said this is a Westy's tradition every Christmas and Thanksgiving.
